Affiliate Disclosure

Effective date: 2026-08-04 Last updated: 2026-09-17

The Feeder Log participates in one affiliate program. This page explains what that means, how affiliate links work, and how we disclose them, in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 C.F.R. § 255) and equivalent disclosure standards in other jurisdictions.

For questions, contact hello@thefeederlog.com.

1. What "affiliate" means here

An affiliate link is a link to a third-party product or service that, if you click and then make a purchase, may pay us a small commission. The price you pay is the same whether or not you use our link. The commission comes out of the merchant's margin, not out of your pocket.

We use affiliate links to help cover the cost of running the Site (hosting, tools, research time). They do not influence which products we mention.

2. Programs we participate in

  • Amazon Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate, The Feeder Log earns from qualifying purchases. Links to Amazon on this Site carry our tracking identifier, and Amazon's own cookies and analytics attribute any purchase to it.

That is the only program we belong to as of the date above. When we join or leave a program, this list and the "Last updated" date change.

This Site does not test hardware. The author has never owned most of the products that appear here, and no article claims otherwise. Where a product is linked, it is because:

  • the article already discusses that type of feeder, baffle, or optic, and the link points at one example of the type;
  • a cited authority (Audubon's binocular testing, for instance) named the model, and the link lets you see the thing being described;
  • the product is the one a manufacturer's own guidance, quoted in the article, is about.

We do not rank products, we do not score them, and we do not describe how they perform in use, because we have not used them. Reviews of unowned hardware, presented as testing, are a line this Site does not cross.

A product's affiliate-commission rate does not affect whether or how we mention it. We do not accept payment from merchants to feature a product, and we have not received free samples. If that ever changes, the article involved will say so.

We disclose the use of affiliate links:

  • On this page, in plain language.
  • In every article that contains one or more affiliate links, in a visible note placed before the first such link.
  • In the link itself, which carries the rel="sponsored" attribute search engines use to identify paid or affiliate relationships.

We do not hide or disguise affiliate links as if they were independent editorial references. Every affiliate link on this Site currently points to amazon.com.

5. What we don't do

  • We do not accept payment for placing a product in a list.
  • We do not write reviews of products we have not researched in good faith, and we do not write hands-on reviews of products we have not used.
  • We do not publish negative reviews of competitors of an affiliate partner in exchange for payment.
  • We do not use deceptive headlines to drive affiliate clicks.
  • We do not display Amazon prices, because they change and because Amazon's program terms restrict how prices may be shown.

If you ever believe an article violates these standards, email hello@thefeederlog.com and we will investigate and, where warranted, correct or retract.

When you click an affiliate link, you leave our Site and the destination merchant takes over. The merchant may set cookies and use its own analytics to attribute the click. We do not receive your name, email address, or payment details from the merchant; at most we receive aggregate reports of clicks and commissions.

For more on how data is handled on this Site, see our Privacy Policy.

7. Updates

When we add or remove affiliate programs, we update the list above and the "Last updated" date.
